Admission – General Entry Requirements to Study Engineering In Nigerian Universities

A typical admission requirement is as follows:

  1. 5 O’level credit including Mathematics, English, Physics and Chemistry in not more that two sittings
  2. JAMB UTME score of at least 180 in most federal universities and 150 in most private and state universities.

Note that the admission processes are very competitive in Nigerian engineering courses and an admission is given based on JAMB score and O’level grades. So make sure you score high in both JAMB and Post UTME.

Jamb UTME Subject Combination

The subject combination at JAMB for those who want to study Engineering is English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry (candidates can replace chemistry with any other subject that satisfies their subject requirement).

Please note that some Engineering courses might require you to offer one or two different subjects other than the 4 well-known Engineering subjects which are English, mathematics, chemistry, and physics.

DURATION:

In most Nigerian universities, the Faculty of Engineering runs for a period of four to five years depending on the mode of entry. Graduates are afterwards awarded a Bachelor of Engineering degree.
